Welcome to Mountain Pets, your trusted destination for high quality bird boarding services. Below, we present an outline of the exceptional care and amenities we offer to ensure your birds' comfort and well-being while you are away from them. We would feel honored should you consider allowing us to care for your feathery friend. If your bird has unique requirements not mentioned here, please reach out to us, and we'll gladly explore how we can accommodate their needs.

Bird Species

Our boarding services currently cater to the following types of birds:

- Small to medium birds including canaries, finches, budgies, parakeets, cockatiels, lovebirds, parrotlets, conures, quakers, African greys, Amazon parrots, etc. Please inquire within about Cockatoos and Macaws.

Boarding Amenities
Bring Your Own Cage or Rent One of Ours:  You have the flexibility to choose between our cages or bring your own if it's more suitable for your pet's comfort and/or would find it a challenge to move and transport your cage.  Our cage type goal is to provide species-specific bird cages offering enough space for approximately twice their wingspan and appropriate bar spacing. Check out our Small Animal and Bird Boarding Image Gallery page for more cage/enclosure images.

Our cages:

  • Finches, budgies, parakeets: 30"Lx18"Wx34"H flight cage with 3/8" wire spacing.

  • Lovebirds, parrotlets: A 24"Lx22"Wx35"H play top cage with 1./2" wire spacing

  • Cockatiels, conures, small-medium parrots: 36"Lx27"Wx55"H play top cage with 7/8" wire spacing

Lodging in Private Room in Home:  The dedicated bird room, also the home office, is on the main floor which allows your bird to feel connected to the overall house while also providing them a safe space from other animals in the house (dogs). We are happy to offer soothing streaming music for your birds' enjoyment.

Wellness Checks: Regular visual wellness checks are conducted at least six times per day to ensure your bird is well, both physically and emotionally. The last visit of the day includes cage covering.

Supervised Out-of-Cage Time: We understand how daily out-of-cage time is critical in assisting with maintaining your bird's emotional and physical wellbeing while away from their family and home routine. With that in mind, we offer an hour a day of supervised out of cage time for birds who are trained or accustomed to being out of their cage.

Emphasis on Cleanliness: Cage pan liners are inspected and changed daily. Water and food dishes are cleaned daily with soap and hot water. We prioritize and guarantee a clean and healthy space for your bird.

Nutrition and Care: Your bird's dietary needs are met through meal and treat offerings in a manner which mirrors their normal feeding schedule at home. We are also experienced in administering supplements and medications for birds as needed.

Individualized Care Needs:  We're dedicated to fulfilling your bird's unique care requirements, so please inquire how we can help to ensure their individual health and happiness throughout their stay.

Preparing for Their Stay and What to Bring

-For new clients, please schedule a wellness exam with your veterinarian ahead of your birds' stay and obtain a veterinary health certificate to verify your bird is clear of any infectious/contageous diseases.

-If desired and more convenient, you can bring your pet's familiar cage with all their contents, but if transporting your cage requires breakdown and reassembly, we kindly require you rent one of our cages.

-If you choose to rent one of our cages, please bring as many of your birds toys and perches as possible to help create their familiar home environment.

- Bring enough cage pan liners, whatever you use at home, for the entire stay, as well as your cage cover.

- Bring enough food, treats, fruits and veges for their scheduled stay plus 2 days. We can purchase and invoice you for additional fresh foods needed for your bird for longer stays.
